Google Maps: This has to be at the top of the list if you are visiting a new city and need to find your way around. Great for driving, walking or if you are taking public transport – also great for discovering new points of interest.

Google Keep
: Great little app for making “What to Do/Pack/Buy” lists  plus you can share these lists with others so they can edit/update your lists at the same time.

Keep in touch with these handy communication apps:
What’s App Messenger, Viber, Skype and Facebook Messenger. If you don’t have any of these, I suggest getting it now!  All of these apps have common features and a few points of difference but basically they can send instant messages with photo/voice/text attachments using your WiFi or 3/4G data, saving you those ridiculous roaming charges. Some of these apps allow you make voice & video calls. What better way to keep in touch and share your photos while on holiday.

Google Translate
: Great universal translation app which can translate text and voice – extremely handy when visiting non-English speaking countries.

Flight Tracker:
complete detailed information on all the flights in real time, a must-have if you do not want to miss your flights and keep up with schedule changes as they happen.

Accuweather
: a handy little weather app, great so you can pack & dress according to the conditions, especially if your plans are weather dependent.

XE Currency:
foreign exchange currency app, so you can convert the cost of items into your local currency and compare prices back home.

Aldiko:
eBook reader which allows you to have your favourite books/magazines handy to read anywhere anytime, whether you are waiting around at the airport, at a bus stop, or simply relaxing in a hammock by the beach.

Bubble Shooter: it’s a game! Great for those times when you have to wait for a while (at the airport, bus stop, etc).

A good tip –
update your existing navigation apps & maps. Up to date maps will be your best friend in finding your way around new cities.
