Over two years ago I stepped into the helloworld Travel shop in Botany Town Centre, Auckland. That first visit was going to impact on my life forever!
I sat down with the Manager of the shop Michelle Savusa. Immediately I began to explain to Michelle my dream of wanting to compete in the Tenzing Everest Marathon. A Marathon from the Base Camp of Everest to Namche Bazaar.
This event was not like any other. Not only was it held at altitude but it involved a 13 day trek just to get to the starting line. Michelle immediately helped me maintain the very best options with Flights, Visa’s and Insurance. It was made so very easy for me.
I thought I was lucky just to have dealt with such an experienced company and person like Michelle. This was truly put to the test when Nepal was struck by a large earthquake which created a magnitude of devastation for the entire nation. I was faced with sadness and disappointment all at the same time.
Immediately Michelle contacted me to help with anything I needed along with the deepest of sympathy and understanding towards having the opportunity taken away at such short notice. I had not made my final decision to attend this event and during that period of time I felt 100% support and patience with allowing me to make a very hard decision.
Some time later I made the decision to re-book for 2016 which gave me more time to raise money and awareness for the suffering in Nepal. I very quickly made an appointment and within one short visit the insurance claim was lodged and any information and support along the way was organised. I cannot thank the team enough for such fast and stress free service.
Another year of training and I was very excited to this time re-book everything needed to give 2016 another shot. Michelle had everything organised for me so quickly. Once the paper work and bookings had been made I had such a warm response from the team excited to share in this moment I had prepared for over two years for.
On the 29th May 2016 I finally had the opportunity to be the only New Zealand female to compete in the Tenzing Everest Marathon in 9 hours 56min. I was very ready after over three weeks to start my journey home. I was delayed out of Kathmandu which lead to a missed connection in Singapore. I was devastated. I had been quickly re-booked on the following morning and within hours received an email from helloworld Travel Botany with concerns for me and made sure I was happy with everything organised. What an amazing support from the team. I truly felt looked after.
When I returned I was very excited to see a post card on my desk from the team welcoming me back home. I cannot thank Michelle and the team from helloworld Travel enough! This type of event you need to have such professional and expert support. I would recommend anyone to use them if they plan on booking anything stress free! You cannot get a refund on an experience and helloworld Travel certainly helped make this one amazing! THANK YOU!
