    Highlights of this cruise:

    Santos, Brazil
Santos is located in Sao Paulo in the state of Brazil and boasts the largest seaport in Latin America. As well as handling much of the world's coffee exports, Santos trades in many Brazilian goods such as steel, oil, cars, oranges, bananas and cotton. However, Santos is also a key tourist centre and has many interesting sights including the city’s Coffee Museum. For football fanatics, Santos is a not-to-be-missed destination, as the football legend, Pele, used to play at Santos FC. A football memorial dedicated to the city's greatest players (including Pelé) has been erected in the city centre.
Santos is famous for its beach garden which is over five kilometres long and is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest beach-front garden. We recommend Santos for a relaxing day off-ship; you can leave your luxury cruise liner at leisure and stroll the streets of this historic city.

    Buzios, Brazil
Armação dos Búzios, often referred to as just Búzios, is a resort town and a municipality located in the state of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. Once a humble fishing village, it’s been nicknamed "Brazil's St Tropez" and is frequented by the rich and famous of the world who flock to the city to enjoy the 24 or so beaches in the vicinity. The west coast beaches offer calm, clear waters while the east coast ones, facing the open sea draw surfers and water sports enthusiasts. Among the most popular beaches are Azeda Beach, Joao Fernandinho Beach with several bars and known for its seafood, Ferradura Beach, and Geriba beach, popular for surfing. Manguinhos beach is known for windsurfing. The Rua das Pedras winds through the town center and features shopping, restaurants, bars and great nightlife.

    Ilha Grande, Brazil
As you approach the low-lying, whitewashed colonial port of Vila do Abraão in Ilha Grande with your MSC cruise ship, the mountains rise dramatically from the sea, and in the distance there’s the curiously shaped summit of Bico do Papagaio (“Parrot’s Beak”), which rises to a height of 980m and can be reached in about three hours. There’s really very little to see in Abraão itself, but it’s a pleasant enough base from which to explore the rest of the island. Ilha Grande comprises 193 square kilometres of mountainous jungle, historic ruins and beautiful beaches, excellent for some scenic tropical rambling. The island is a state park and the authorities have been successful at limiting development and maintaining a ban on motor vehicles. Ilha Grande offers lots of beautiful excursions along well-maintained and fairly well-signposted trails, but it’s sensible to take some basic precautions. Carry plenty of water with you, and remember to apply sunscreen and insect repellent at regular intervals. According to legend, the pirate Jorge Grego was heading for the Straits of Magellan when his ship was sunk by a British fleet. He managed to escape with his two daughters to Ilha Grande, where he became a successful farmer and merchant. However, in a fit of rage, he murdered the lover of one of his daughters, and shortly afterwards, a terrible storm destroyed all his farms and houses. From then on, Jorge Grego passed his time roaming the island, distraught, pausing only long enough to bury his treasure before his final demise.
