Fuerteventura is the closest Canary Island to the African coast and boasts more than three thousand hours of sunshine a year. It also has a total of 157 long sandy beaches and sand dunes, making it perfect for all kinds of water sports.
Currently there is a boom in leisure centres that invite tourists to discover different aspects of the Island's landscape and culture. Some examples are the Miguel de Unamuno Museum, the Tefia Craft Village and the Morro Velosa Lookout.
The beauty of Fuerteventura is complemented by the neighbouring islet of Lobos, which is a boat ride from the pure white beaches of Corralejo in the north.

Transport Links - Fuerteventura has air links with the main cities of Europe, the Spanish mainland and the other Canary Islands through its international airport at Puerto de Rosario. From the capital, you can travel to Cadiz and Arrecife de Lanzarote with the Trasmediterranea Shipping Lines. Naviera Armas Shipping Lines runs a jet foil service, connecting the Island with Tenerife and Gran Canaria. There is also a ferry crossing from the ports of Corralejo in Fuerteventura, to Punta Llana in Lanzarote, with Fred Olsen Lines.
