Huatulco Mexico See all cruises

Isolated and pristine, Huatulco is often touted as "Mexico’s Best Kept Secret". Bordered by a 22-mile collage of glittering bays, inlets and coves, Huatulco remains virtually untouched. Its overwhelming scenery is rich with a brocade of bougainvillea, almond, and laurel trees, and surrounded by the Sierra Madre Mountains.

To stimulate the economy, the Mexican government began to search for an area to establish a "planned community", with strict building codes and close attention to ecological awareness, for which Huatulco was ideal. In the early 1980’s construction was underway. By 1987 Huatulco finally began to accept vacationers into its few hotels. In 1992 it began to flourish as Mexico’s newest vacation and eco-destination.

Rest and relaxation are the key attractions. Discover quiet coves for an afternoon picnic or a relaxing nap. For a snorkelling adventure, Tangolunda Bay is favoured by the locals because of its colourful marine life and picturesque coral reefs. Take a day trip to the ancient ruins of Oaxaca for a taste of history or sightsee in quaint Puerto Escondido.

The luxury resorts provide an abundance of nightlife and restaurants, while a day trip to town is often reserved for shopping excursions. Distinctive handicrafts like leather goods, textiles, and pottery are available at local markets.
