AN OUTBACK SURPRISE
Near the end of a three-hour walk at Kings Canyon
in the Northern Territory, we stumbled across
this gorgeous little pool of water amongst the
Canyon’s 400-million-year-old stone formations.
It’s actually quite rare to see water in the outback,
323 kilometres southwest of Alice Springs. It was
definitely an interesting sight!

THE BRIDGE OF LOVE
One of the highlights of a river cruise I took through
Europe with APT in 2016 was wandering through
Salzburg, people-watching and eating the delicious
market fare. And I now feel that no trip to this
beautiful Austrian city is complete without a stroll
along the Makartsteg bridge, where you must stop
at least once to read some of the inscriptions that
couples and families write on padlocks and clip
to the bridge. The bridge also has a fantastic view
across to medieval-era Hohensalzburg Castle atop
the wooded mountain of Festungsberg, and in the
other direction a walk amongst the beautiful 18th-
century Mirabellgarten gardens isn’t far.
