LATEST HOLIDAY DESTINATION -
SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA
EXECUTIVE GENERAL MANAGER – SIMON MCKEARNEY
Air New Zealand is opening up a new exciting destination for Kiwi travellers in November
this year: Seoul.
Seoul, the capital of South Korea, is a city that has a history of more than 600 years and is
considered the historical centre of the country. Many people know that Seoul is home to a
thriving economy and some of the world’s largest tech companies, but it’s also a city with
a unique appeal to tourists, and is about to become easily accessible with
Air New Zealand’s new direct flights.
Whether you’re into skyscrapers or temples, five-star restaurants or street food, luxurious
malls or night markets, Seoul has it all. It’s a foodie paradise, especially for those who like
to try local authentic street food at wallet-friendly prices.
Read all about Seoul in this issue along with a mix of other destinations to tempt you for
your next holiday – Tuscany, Vietnam and the Philippines, and closer to home, Melbourne
and the Pacific Islands.
Just pop into your local helloworld Travel store for some expert advice and travel tips from
our team of travel professionals.
FOR THE LOVE OF CRUISING
EDITOR – TRACEY MEHRTENS
Whether it’s river cruising through Europe, or ocean cruising the South Pacific, Japan,
China, Caribbean, Galapagos Islands, or Antarctic, Kiwis love it. With our inherent love
of the ocean and exploring, the allure of sailing the high seas – or meandering down
gentle rivers – is attracting Kiwis in ever growing numbers.
In fact, New Zealanders are taking to ocean cruising faster than any other country,
recently breaking through the 100,000 barrier for the first time - reaching a total of
112,000 passengers a year in a spurt of world-leading growth.
And it isn’t just Kiwis who love cruising because the popularity of this holiday choice is
growing globally. So much so that more than 120 new ocean line cruise ships will be built
worldwide during the next eight years to cope with the demand from travellers. Most of
the new ships will be large mega-ships or smaller ultra-luxury and expedition ships.
In this issue of Explore you’ll find plenty of cruise reading - Europe and Fiji cruise
experiences as well as updates about the latest Princess Cruises Caribbean and Panama
Canal itineraries, cruising the Galapagos Islands, discovering China and Japan with APT
and the arrival of luxury cruise PONANT’s new ship, Le Bougainville.
Happy cruise holiday planning!
