THE CYCLADES
AMORGOS, FOLEGANDROS, IOS, KOUFONISIA, MILOS, MYKONOS,
NAXOS, PAROS, SANTORINI, SIFNOS, SYROS AND TINOS
Located in the heart of the Aegean Sea, this group of islands is famous for white-washed
buildings complemented with blue or yellow painted windows, with sprays of bougainvillea
adding splashes of pink and purple. Narrow cobblestone streets wind through the tiny
villages, while the main port towns are lined with traditional fishing boats and tavernas.
Santorini is perhaps the most popular in the Cyclades group of islands. A volcanic island
with villages built on the edge of a submerged caldera, it offers the most romantic sunsets
in the world. Mykonos is equally beautiful – picture white-washed houses with blue shutters,
gorgeous churches with round blue roofs, windmills, donkeys walking up mountain trails,
not to mention dazzling blue sea and sandy beaches. Paros offers unrivalled natural beauty,
spectacular beaches and breathtaking landscapes while Naxos is an island of beautiful old
monasteries and Venetian castles. Relax on a beautiful sandy beach during the day and head
into the town centre in the evening to enjoy the lively nightlife on the island of Ios.
