       CULTURAL SITES
       Sri Lanka has a rich culture with no less than six
       UNESCO Word Heritage Sites in the country. Visit
       the sacred city of Kandy to see the golden-roofed
       Temple of the Sacred Tooth, housing Sri Lanka’s
       most important Buddhist relic. Marvel at the
       golden temple of Dambulla and the enigmatic
       rocky outcrop of Sigiriya, perhaps the single most
       dramatic sight in the country. Include Galle on
       your itinerary to see Galle Fort, the fortified old
       city with its car-free streets and stone sea walls.
       In Polonnaruwa you can visit tombs, temples and
       stupas over 800 years old.
