Set amongst the West MacDonnell
Ranges, Glen Helen is located just
132 kilometres west of Alice Springs.
One of six permanent waterholes along
the Finke River, it’s a short distance
from Mt Sonder, the pinnacle of the
Larapinta Trail.
The towering sandstone walls of Glen
Helen Gorge are a sight to behold as they
shade the tranquil waterhole. To see the
gorge framed in the rising morning sun,
or the soft glow of sunset, makes the
rugged walk well worth the effort.
