BIKE FASCINATING BORNEO
Borneo conjures up images of intrepid explorers, dense tropical rainforest,
a dazzling array of tropical wildlife and of course, the great ape indigenous covered with mountainous terrain and tropical forests, Fiji is the perfect
to this island, the orangutan.
Borneo is best known for adventure tourism and is home to some of
the world’s most accessible unspoilt tropical jungle. With miles of
uncongested roads and a network of country routes that meander past
some of the most striking scenery in the region – plantations, forests, rice
fields and farming villages – it’s a perfect destination for cycling.
Take a week-long cycling adventure from Kuching, the culturally diverse,
lively capital of Sarawak with SpiceRoads Cycle Tours. Visit orangutan
rehabilitation centres, trade pedals for paddles and kayak along the
languid Sarawak River, trek along steamy jungle paths and see the birth of
baby turtles on the pristine beaches.

unprecedented adventure of five kilometres of zip lines woven into a truly
spectacular wilderness setting of caves, canyons and mountaintops.
Soaring higher, faster and longer than ever before, these 16 giant zip lines
offer jaw-dropping speeds and breathtaking ocean views with the added
adventure of limestone cave exploration, with the tour taking people to
experience three different ecosystems.
The upper part of the mountain is abundant with old-growth vesi trees,
big hardwood trees used to make the bowls for kava ceremonies. Most of
the vesis have been cut down, so this makes the Nadi tour quite unique.
Riders then transition to the lower section of the mountain which is filled
with rain trees, and of course the caves are an exotic ecosystem unlike
any other.
The course has been designed so that the zip line platforms have unique
and stunning views. At the top of the mountain there is a 360-degree
view, 270 degrees of which is ocean. You’re up there looking over the
Mamanuca Islands, Plantation Island, Tavarua – a popular surfing spot,
and the entrance to Momi Bay where you can see the tourist cruise ships,
the channel and reefs. What a great way to see and experience a true
slice of Fiji!
