DUBAI
DUBAI
The United Arab Emirates or U.A.E consists of 7 individual states ruled by emirs, which merged in 1971 to form the United Arab
Emirates. Dubai (although not the capital – that honour belongs to Abu Dhabi) is perhaps the best known. Famed for modern
skyscrapers, stylish hotels and fantastic shopping, Dubai remains a consistently popular destination for travellers from all over the
world. For first time visitors, Dubai offers both modern comforts and a taste of exotic Arabia. The city is a favourite stopover point
en route to Europe, as in addition to beautiful beaches and fascinating culture Dubai has a myriad of shopping opportunities, from
the traditional souks to the huge modern malls for which the city is famous. Whether you take an evening dhow cruise, enjoy a
jeep safari into the desert or simply relax on the beach, Dubai offers something for all travellers.
Dubai Tourism Dirham Fee
Dubai Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) have introduced a compulsory Tourism Dirham charge to be applied to hotel guests, staying in any
type of hotel establishment, including hotels, hotel apartments, guest houses and holiday homes within the Emirate of Dubai. This fee will be levied per
occupied room night, per occupied bedroom and is not charged based on the number of guests staying in a room. This fee is to be collected from all
guests upon check-in or check-out depending on the hotel process and cannot be prepaid.
The fees are as follows: 2 & 3 star hotels: AED10 per room per night, 4 star hotels: AED15 per room per night, 5 star hotels: AED20 per room per night.
Rates apply for guest houses and apartments also.
