SLEEP EASY ON YOUR TRAVELS

Don’t let a lack of shut-eye ruin your travels.
There’s a selection of ingenious apps that use
voice, sound and colour to ease you into sleep, no
matter how far from home you might be. Below and
at right are two to try.
Sleep Genius
The Sleep Genius app utilises gentle yet clever
technology to optimise several aspects of the sleep
cycle. To begin, a relaxation programme sends you
off to sleep with acoustically modified music to
induce a relaxation response. When it’s time to get
up, according to the perfect wake time you’ve pre-
programmed, you’ll then be eased into alertness
with the revive cycle alarm, and periodic sound
cycles to softly wake you up instead of being jolted
awake by a noisy alarm.

UBER
Uber isn’t just a cost-effective and reliable
ridesharing service in New Zealand: it’s active
in about 84 countries around the world and
more than 800 cities. Uber is the global king of
ridesharing apps and can be very handy when
you’re travelling overseas. Quickly request a car
via the Uber app, choosing your own vehicle, rate
and fare quote. Once the Uber is ordered it’s all
tracked via GPS, ensuring safe travel.
The app also gives you the driver’s name and
phone number, enables you to see in real time
where the approaching car and driver are, and
securely pays the fare using a credit card – no
cash needed. Make sure you download the app
and familarise yourself without it before heading
off on holiday.
