WHAT’S
HOT
Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa, offers the ultimate family A TOUCH OF DISNEY IN HAWAI’I @ DISNEY
holiday with a touch of Disney in a tropical paradise. The
resort is the result of Walt Disney Imagineers who worked
hand in hand with local artisans and cultural experts
to create an imaginative oasis inspired by the natural
wonders and traditions of Hawai‘i.
Located well away from the crowds of Waikiki on Oahu’s
Southwestern Shore, Aulani is an all-inclusive holiday
destination offering families days of fun. Buffet breakfasts
with Disney characters, Disney family movie evenings,
themed parties for all ages and a thrilling choice of
waterslides and pools are just some of the family fun at
the resort.
A key attraction is the 762 square-metre Waikolohe Pool.
Waikolohe is Hawaiian for “mischievous water” and it lives
up to its name with features including Volcanic Vertical, a
thrilling tunnel body slide, and Waikolohe Stream, which
includes a lazy river, rushing rapids and two waterslides.
Tubing adventures at the Waikolohe Pool can be extreme
or serene. Both float riders around rock formations and
encounters with caverns and surprise bursts of fountain
springs. Just as enthralling are the unique waterslides
including Tubestone Curl, an open-air, twisting and
turning tube adventure that eventually launches riders
into Waikolohe Stream.
NEW-LOOK POOL NOW OPEN AT OUTRIGGER FIJI Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort on Fiji’s Coral Coast is a
longtime family favourite and its new-look main pool – the
largest lagoon-style pool in Fiji – is sure to be a hit with the
kids. The pool now has a fresh new look and surroundings
with a new blue-glass pebble pool surface and water line
tiles, new lights for evening use and refreshed landscaping.
Family-friendly features at the resort include a MeiMei
nanny service (meimei in Fijian means “to take care of”)
for infants aged six months to 12 years. There are two Kids’
Clubs – Little Riggers for ages three to seven, and Beach
Riggers for ages eight to 12 years. A Teens’ programme
which mixes cultural and sporting activities is also
available.
Parents aren’t forgotten either. They can escape for some
peaceful time-out at Vahavu, the adults-only bistro and
swimming pool with its own swim-up bar. (The name
Vahavu means “to relax” or “chill out” in the local Nadroga
Fijian dialect.) In addition to the Vahavu pool complex,
parents also have exclusive use of Bebe Spa Sanctuary. The
Kalokalo hilltop bar is perfect for a peaceful sunset cocktail
before dinner at the resort’s fine-dining restaurant, Ivi.
The Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort has plenty of family
accommodation options including family bures with large
rooms that sleep up to two adults and two children, and
connecting rooms.
