What your need
Applications for a licence must be made in person to the Registrar of Marriages in the Cook Islands at least 3 working days prior to the marriage. The office is open Monday to Friday 8am – 4pm. Application for the licence cannot be made outside the Cook Islands.
- Original birth certificate
- Passport
- Decree absolute in English (divorce papers) if relevant
- Death certificate of a deceased former spouse
- The Cook Islands require you to be 20 years for the marriage to be legal, unless written consent from parents is presented.
- Churches on the island: Cook Islands Christian Church, (Protestant) L atter Day Saints, Seventh Day Adventists, Roman Catholic. It will be necessary to check with your local minister regarding the requirements to marry in the Church as they will also apply to the Cook Islands.
