What it costs

Weddings and honeymoons in the Cook Islands are fast becoming a popular way to wed. Many of the resorts offer the fully arranged ‘no worry’ weddings complete with ceremony, reception and the perfect destination to spend your honeymoon. Packages vary from resort and so does the pricing and there are many options to suit all budgets. Couples can choose a simple romantic ceremony for two to a complete island feast with a large group of friends and family. Please ask your Travel Agent for a tailor made wedding package. 


What your need

Applications for a licence must be made in person to the Registrar of Marriages in the Cook Islands at least 3 working days prior to the marriage. The office is open Monday to Friday 8am – 4pm. Application for the licence cannot be made outside the Cook Islands.

  • Original birth certificate
  • Passport
  • Decree absolute in English (divorce papers) if relevant
  • Death certificate of a deceased former spouse
  • The Cook Islands require you to be 20 years for the marriage to be legal, unless written consent from parents is presented.
  • Churches on the island: Cook Islands Christian Church, (Protestant) L atter Day Saints, Seventh Day Adventists, Roman Catholic. It will be necessary to check with your local minister regarding the requirements to marry in the Church as they will also apply to the Cook Islands.

  • Marriage waiver fee (if you wish to be married less than the 3 days residency requirement) $45.00
  • Church minister or priest donation ($50 - $100 is recommended)
