Auckland to Hong Kong

The plane: Cathay Pacific Airbus A350-900

Flight time: 11hr 10m service.

Class: Premium Economy. The cabin has a 2-4-2 configuration, with only 4 rows of Premium Economy seats.

Check-in experience: Check in was a seamless experience with helpful staff floating arriving the self-check-in kiosks, and friendly staff at the bag drop.

The food: Very good. Breakfast was  served shortly after take-off and included fresh fruit, yoghurt, croissant and a choice between Poached eggs (with pork sausage, potato hash and Hollandaise sauce) or Braised e-fu noodles (served with shredded duck and choy sum). Various snacks were available during the flight including chocolate, chips and noodles. Lunch was served prior to arrival which included a delicious bulgur wheat, cranberry, almonds and feta salad, followed by your choice of main; Duck with red dates and rice, Beef fillet served with potato truffle and vegetables and a vegetarian option of Linguine (served with zucchini, cherry tomato, pesto and white wine cream sauce). Cathay Pacific also offer an extensive meal selection which you can chose from 10+ options to meet your perfect dietary requirement.

Service: Great. The plane was quite full but the crew handled that very well.

Entertainment: I was blown away by the variety of amazing movie choices and TV shows (not just brand new, but old classics too!). System is extremely easy to use and comfortable, noise-cancelling headphones was a great bonus.

The facilities:
The airline provided a blanket, pillow, eye mask, toothbrush and toothpaste and socks for the flight. WI-FI was available onboard, easy to connect and you can choose between three reasonable price plans: one hour use for US$9.95, for flights of 6 hours and under it is US$12.95 for the full flight or only US$19.95 for flights longer than 6 hours. Who wouldn’t want to check in 40,000 high in the sky?!

Would I fly again? Yes. Great service.
