An Azamara Cruise Odyssey Through Oceania

Our journey begins on New Zealand’s North Island in cosmopolitan Auckland — affectionately dubbed the “City of Sails”. From here, set sail aboard the Azamara Onward for the golden beaches, tranquil waters, and sun-drenched shores of Tauranga. The following day, it’s off to wine country and the Art Deco streetscapes of Napier, where a late stay allows ample time to savor the region’s vibrant viticulture.

Venture onward to the capital of Wellington and our second late-night stay, before arriving in the seaside town of Picton. Known as the gateway to the Marlborough Sounds, this quaint city is a haven for wine-lovers and outdoor adventurers alike. From here, it’s onward to the Garden City of Christchurch. Take in spectacular, 360-degree views from the dizzying heights of the Christchurch gondola before we depart for the fine wines and fabulous Flemish architecture of Dunedin.

Another restful night at sea has us depart New Zealand’s South Island for the shores of Oban, the only inhabited settlement on remote Stewart Island. While here, do as the locals do and enjoy a laid-back lunch of cod and chips (plus breathtaking views of Thomson Bay) at the South Sea Hotel. Two more days at sea offer plenty of opportunity for rest and relaxation as we cruise through the towering peaks and plunging sea cliffs of Milford Sound. This leg of our journey concludes with an exciting overnight stay in our final port and Oceania’s most iconic metropolis: Sydney.
