Carry-on/Cabin Baggage Allowance

• You are allowed one carry-on bag plus one of the following personal items:
  • 1 purse, briefcase, camera bag, or diaper bag;
  • or 1 laptop computer (computers cannot be checked and must be carried on);
  • or 1 item of a similar or smaller size to those listed above.
• Your carry-on bag is up to 9in x 14in x 22in (23cm x 35cm x 56cm) including handle, pockets and wheels. You may be required to check your bag if it cannot be safely stowed on your flight.
  • Baggage must fit easily in the Carry-on Baggage Check, which is located near the check-in counters and at the gate and is approximately 22" x 14" x 9" or 56 x 36 x 23 centimeters.
• You may also carry on the following items, which do not count as personal items:
  • A jacket or umbrella.
  • Food or drink purchased after clearing the security checkpoint.
  • Duty free merchandise.
  • Special items like strollers, child restraint seats, or assistive devices such as wheelchairs or crutches.
• Please note that all items must be stowed in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you.  They may not be stowed in the seat back pocket.

• You can carry on one guitar or similar or smaller sized musical instrument, which may not exceed 45 linear inches, must be stowed under the seat in front of you or in an overhead bin or another approved stowage location.  If space is unavailable prior to departure, the item must be checked as baggage.

Checked Baggage Dimensions

The dimensions of the bag should not exceed 62 linear inches (158 linear cm) and should not exceed 50 lb (23 kg). Bags over this size and weight may be subject to additional fees. Linear dimensions are the total of the length + width + height.

Additional Free Baggage Allowance Information

Please note the following exceptions:

• Due to weight and balance restrictions, all passengers traveling to or from Key West, Florida are limited to one checked bag. This supersedes all exceptions.
• First and Business Class passengers may check up to three bags up to 70 lbs each at no charge on Delta and Delta Connection operated flights.
• SkyMiles Medallion® members traveling in Economy may check up to two bags up to 70 lbs each at no charge on Delta and Delta Connection operated flights.
• Passengers with a confirmed Full Y Class Economy ticket may check up to two bags that comply with size & weight restrictions at no charge on Delta and Delta Connection operated flights.
• Gold, Platinum, and Reserve Delta SkyMiles Credit Cardmembers from American Express may check their first bag for free for all Delta and Delta Connection® flights. Benefit is limited to Basic Cardmembers (not Additional Cardmembers). The checked bag must comply with size & weight restrictions. The benefit applies to up to 9 people traveling in the eligible Cardmember's reservation.
• Boxes are not accepted as checked baggage to Central or South America (except Brazil, Mexico, and Chile) at any time of the year; however, original factory-sealed boxes may be accepted on a standby basis.
• Active duty U.S. military personnel traveling on orders to or from duty stations are allowed up to three checked bags in Economy Class and up to four checked bags in First and Business Class on Delta and Delta Connection® carriers at no charge. Each bag may weigh up to 70 lbs. (32 kg) and measure up to 80 linear inches (203 cm).

Remember that excess baggage fees may apply if you check more than two bags or if your checked bags exceed size & weight restrictions.

Charges for extra and overweight baggage

• Up to 10 bags may be checked per passenger on flights operated by Delta and up to four total checked bags on Delta Connection® carrier flights.
• The airline may limit the amount of excess baggage when such excess prevents them from transporting up to two bags per passenger.
• Delta Connection carriers accept excess baggage on a space-available basis. If the baggage cannot be carried on the same flight with you, it will be transported on the next available flight.
• Camera, film, videotape, lighting, and sound equipment will be accepted when tendered by representatives of network or local television broadcasting companies or commercial filmmaking companies. For more information, please contact the airline.
• Additional, overweight, and oversized baggage is accepted on a standby basis.
