Carry-on/Cabin Baggage Allowance

Flights between China and US, Canada, Europe, CIS, Thailand, Singapore

  • One piece of carry-on baggage may not exceed 10 kg (22 lbs), with a total length, width and height that does not exceed 115 cm (45 inches). 
  • Economy class passengers may carry one piece of carry-on baggage.
  • First class and business class passengers may carry two pieces of carry-on baggage. 
  • Carry-on baggage should be capable of being put in the luggage compartment above the seats or under the seat directly in front of the passenger.
  • In addition to the one carry-on, passengers may bring one personal item such as:
    • overcoat or cape
    • shawl or blanket
    • umbrella or walking stick
    • binoculars
    • camera
    • reasonable amount of reading material
    • small cosmetic bag

Domestic Chinese Services (include Taiwan), Luanda Services, Services to Malé

  1. Domestic Services:
  • Each piece of carry-on baggage may not exceed 5 kg in weight, volume cannot exceed 20 x 40 x 55 cm.
  • All passengers with economy class tickets may only bring on one item of luggage each.
  • All passengers with first and business class tickets may bring on two items of luggage each
  • Carry-on baggage should be capable of being stowed under the seat in the row in front of the passenger or in a closed luggage compartment.
  1. International and Regional Routes:
  • Economy class passengers may only bring on one item with total weight not exceeding 10 kg and volume not exceeding 20 x 40 x 55 cm.
  • First and business class passengers may bring on two items of carry-on baggage, with the weight of each item not exceeding 10 kg, and volume not exceeding 20 x 40 x 55 cm.

Charges for extra and overweight/oversized baggage

For Domestic Flights within Mainland China - the overweight-baggage charge is 1.5% per kg of the highest one-way published Hainan Airlines fare in Economy Class according to the traveling direction. The overweight charges can be paid in CNY, USD,CAD, EUR or local currency of departing country/region, calculated according to the prevailing exchange rate on the departure date.
