Note: The airline may have partnerships with other airlines and your flight may be operated by another airline. For journeys to/from the U.S., the baggage allowances of the airline that ticketed the first segment of your travel should apply throughout your travel. For travel that does not involve the U.S., you should check with the operating airline for information about their baggage allowances; the other airline's baggage allowances may be more restrictive and you could be charged for extra baggage by the other airline.

Carry-on/Cabin Baggage Allowance

Carry-on baggage is limited to 1 piece. Carry-on baggage linear dimensions may not exceed 115cm (45in.) in addition to such personal effects for in cabin use as handbag, camera, etc. Total weight of the such articles should not exceed 10 kg (22 lb).
For safety reasons, any baggage exceeding the carry-on allowance or any baggage which can not be stowed properly due to limit of cabin stowage capacity will be stowed in a cargo compartment after being handled as checked baggage at the gate or in the cabin. Passengers are requested to minimize the carry-on baggage to a minimum so as to facilitate the passenger flow through security check.
Valuables such as cash, jewelry, securities, bill of exchange, documents, travel documents (passport, alien registration card etc.), gift coupons, bankbook, check, commuter pass, key, computer and its accessories, cell phone, camera, digital camera, data, watch, memento etc. should not be included in checked baggage but are to be kept by the passenger. We will not be liable for any loss of or damage to such articles.
Some airports may employ CT scans for baggage reinspection, in addition to standard X-ray scans. The increased X-ray exposure may affect photographic film. Therefore, it is recommended that you carry your photographic film with you into the cabin with your carry-on baggage.

Checked Baggage Dimensions

For piece concept, the sum of the 3 dimensions (length + width + height) may not exceed 203 cm (80 in.).

Sporting Equipment and Musical Instruments

The airline may have specific requirements and fees for transporting sporting equipment and musical instruments. Please check with the airline for limitations, transportation requirements and fee information.

Charges for excess baggage

An excess baggage charge is required for baggage exceeding the free baggage allowance.

Note: Maximum checked baggage per passenger is +7 pieces on top of free baggage allowance of each boarding class.
Note: Maximum checked baggage per passenger for Manila route is 5 pieces per passenger regardless of boarding class.

Excess baggage charges vary depending upon departure airport and destination. Please contact Japan Airlines for the exact rates for your route. Rates will be charged for each kg over the free baggage allowance and vary from 200 yen to 850 yen per kilogram.
