Note: The airline may have partnerships with other airlines and your flight may be operated by another airline. For journeys to/from the U.S., the baggage allowances of the airline that ticketed the first segment of your travel should apply throughout your travel. For travel that does not involve the U.S., you should check with the operating airline for information about their baggage allowances; the other airline's baggage allowances may be more restrictive and you could be charged for extra baggage by the other airline.


Carry-on/Cabin Baggage Allowance

Under the Singapore Airlines' cabin baggage policy, each passenger will be allowed the following cabin baggage allowance:

  • Quantity      : 1 piece for Economy Class passengers 
                         2 pieces for Suites, First and Business Class passengers*
  • Dimensions : Length + Breadth + Height (including protrusions) must not exceed 115 cm (45") in 
                         total and can be stowed securely
  • Weight          : Up to 7 kg

The following baggage items are deemed to constitute one piece of cabin baggage:

  • Trolley Bag      : 55 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm (22" x 16" x 8")
  • Garment Bag   : Dimension not exceeding 115 cm (45") and thickness not exceeding 20 cm (8") when      
                              folded
  • Briefcase         : 50 cm x 40 cm x 25 cm (20" x 16" x 10")

*Subject to local country specific requirements, aircraft cabin space and stowage availability.


You may carry onboard the articles listed below free of charge, over and above your free baggage allowance (subject to local country specific restrictions, if any):

  • A lady’s handbag
  • An overcoat
  • An umbrella or walking stick
  • A laptop or notebook computer
  • A small camera
  • A reasonable amount of reading material for the flight
  • Infant’s food for consumption in flight and infant’s carrying basket
  • A pair of crutches and/or other prosthetic devices for the passenger’s use provided the passenger is dependent upon them

Checked Baggage Dimensions

The sum of the 3 dimensions (length + width + height) must not be in excess of 158 cm (62 in).


Please note that your checked baggage cannot exceed 32 kg (70 lb) per piece. This is in accordance with the local occupational safety rules. Passengers are required to re-pack their baggage if the baggage weight exceeds the above-stipulated limitation per piece.

Excess baggage charges are levied by zonal pricing for the following countries, according to the originating and disembarking region:


Band 1: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam.
Band 2: China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau, Mongolia, South Asia Subcontinent (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka), Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Russia (in Asia).
Band 3: Japan, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Guam, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Northern Mariana Islands, Palau, Timor Leste, Middle East.
Band 4: Africa, Europe, Russia (in Europe).

Band 5: Canberra – Wellington, Moscow – Stockholm.

Band 6: Cebu – Davao, Cebu – Kalibo, Siem Reap – Da Nang, Phnom Penh – Siem Reap

  • The above system applies to all travel itineraries (except for flights to/from United States), including interline travel, with Singapore Airlines determined as the Most Significant Marketing Carrier (except in cases where Singapore Airlines stipulates that it will be the Operating Carrier) in accordance to International Air Transport Association (IATA) Resolution 302.
  • For itineraries involving the United States, excess baggage charges are levied based on piece concept.

If you are travelling to/from United States, excess baggage charges will be levied based on the type of charges shown in the table below.

Please note the following:


  1. The final excess baggage charges are derived by adding up all the individual charges.
  2. The Heavy Charge and the Excess Size Charge are not applicable on additional pieces of baggage checked in.
  3. Any bag that weights above 32 kg requires advance arrangement. It may not be accepted as checked baggage and may have to be sent as cargo.
