On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel with the remainder of the day at leisure.

    Day 2: Bogota
Enjoy a day touring the historical sites of Bogota, including the colonial architecture of the La Candelaria district, the main square – Plaza de Bolivar, the Museum of Gold with its incredible collection of priceless pre-European artefacts, and the Botero Museum with the works of Colombia’s most famous contemporary artist. The afternoon finds you enjoying a ‘See and Taste’ tour of Bogota where you sample some local delicacies like Arepa de Choclo (sweet corn cakes) and Roscon (guava paste stuffed bread) along with a visit to a local micro-brewery.

    Day 3: Bogota
Your tour today visits the amazing Zipaquira underground salt cathedral. Here you experience the extraordinary architecture carved inside the Halite Mountains in an active salt mine, whose deposits were formed 250 million years ago. You will find 14 small chapels that represent the Stations of the Cross and Jesus Christ’s crucifixion, a sanctuary and the main cathedral. Lunch is included and after the tour return to Bogota and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.

    Day 4: Bogota > Cartagena
Today fly from Bogota to Cartagena to enjoy three nights in this gem of a city, the old colonial heart, which is a UNESCO World Heritage listed site.

    Day 5: Cartagena
Cartagena was built by the Spanish to protect their treasure fleets full of plundered Inca gold returning from the New World to Spain. Your tour will visit Convento de la Popa, where the city’s highest point is located offering beautiful views of the city and Castillo de San Felipe, which dominates the city and was the largest fortress ever built in a Spanish colony. Also see Las Bovedas, the 18th Century vaults in the old city walls that were once used as dungeons, but which now house a colourful craft market. Wandering the lovely streets with your guide, finish your tour at Iglesia y Convento San Pedro de Claver, a famous 17th century Baroque church.

    Day 6: Cartagena
Today you will visit ‘La Boquilla’, an old fishing village located twenty minutes north from Cartagena. This community was once a slave colony and it has been home to many Afro-Colombian inhabitants. Take it in the scenery of clear waters of the Caribbean Sea on one side and the ‘Cienega de la Virgen’ – a large lake and mangrove swamp – on the other side. Later on, a native person will guide you on a traditional wood canoe and you will explore the fauna and flora of this eco-system. A young group from local drum school will then perform an immersive performance of traditional drums and rhythms of the Colombian Caribbean coast.
