    Day - 1

Location: Johannesburg - Welcome to South Africa! This Independent Experience begins in Johannesburg, where on arrival at the airport, you will be met by a Peregrine representative and transferred to your hotel (approximately 45 minutes). Enjoy the rest of the day to settle in and spend at your leisure. If you have time, you may like to explore the city or simply get some rest, as there’s an early start and long day of travel tomorrow.

    Day - 2

Location: Kruger National Park - Your Kruger adventure begins between 5.30–6 am this morning. Leaving Johannesburg behind in an included transfer, travel to the Greater Kruger National Park, arriving in time for lunch. In the afternoon, head to a neighbouring game reserve to embark on your first open 4WD vehicle game drive by spotlight. This is a great opportunity to catch a glimpse of the elusive animals that operate after dark. After your safari, retire to your accommodation in the Greater Kruger area. You will stay in an intimate jungle lodge with a small number of permanent tented safari rooms. Rooms are comfortably appointed with modern furnishings, a private ensuite and bath. The lodge itself also offers spacious common areas including a comfortable lounge, swimming pool, shaded deck area and dining tent.

    Day - 3

Location: Greater Kruger National Park - You will wake early today and head into the park itself. Upon entry you’ll find yourself in prime game viewing territory, perched to catch a glimpse of the ‘Big Five’. Enjoy breakfast at one of the picnic spots within in the park, fuelling you for the full day of game viewing ahead. You will continue through the park, stopping off at various points and waterholes to observe the incredible animals go about their daily life. One of the largest game reserves in Southern Africa, Kruger National Park is home to over 500 bird species, 100 species of reptile and 150 mammal species, including significant populations of all the members of the ‘Big Five’ – lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo and rhino. The endangered African wild dog, herbivores like hippo, zebra, giraffe and numerous different types of antelope also enjoy the park’s rich mosaic of habitats, including savanna, mixed acacia woodland, rocky hills and mopane woodland. You will return to the lodge in the late afternoon, where you can enjoy an evening of relaxation. Notes: Your game drive within Kruger National Park will be a shared game drive. You will be accompanied by other guests from the lodge.

    Day - 4

Location: Blyde River Canyon - Journey into the Great Escarpment today, travelling along the Panorama Route to experience some of the most renowned landscapes of South Africa. This route in the Mpumalanga Province is one of the world’s great driving roads, home to views of mountain peaks, deep canyons and rivers threading through the lush green valleys. The views are spectacular throughout, with each bend in the road providing a new breathtaking scene. During the day, pass by sites along the Blyde River Canyon such as God’s Window and Bourke’s Luck Potholes. After a full day of exploration, return to the lodge to relax by the fire.

    Day - 5

Location: Greater Kruger National Park - With a free day of independent exploration at your disposal, you may choose to relax at your lodge or book in one of the optional activities on offer. If you’re interested in something other than soaking up some sun around your onsite pool, perhaps return to the park on a day trip for more wildlife spotting, seeking out any of the Big Five that you might not yet have seen. Tonight, enjoy an outdoor dinner on the deck at the lodge. The deck overlooks the pool and a small watering hole which often attracts giraffes and zebras.

    Day - 6

Location: Greater Kruger National Park – Johannesburg - It is another early start today for a guided bush walk in the area, where you’ll learn some interesting details about the natural world, including identification of trees, spoors (the tracks or scent of an animal) and birds. You’ll transfer back to Johannesburg after your morning safari walk. There's plenty of time to stop and explore along the way. Take in amazing views at the viewpoint over the awesome Blyde River Canyon and see the pointed peaks of the Three Rondavels. Upon arrival back in Johannesburg, you will be dropped at your nominated hotel or directly to the airport for any onward travel. If you are planning to depart Johannesburg today for an international destination, please ensure that your flight is later than 10pm. Notes: Your transfer from Greater Kruger National Park to Johannesburg will be a shared, as will as your morning game walk. Total driving time today is approximately 8 hours.
